‘Switch { case n’:

Director: Chethan Shetty

Rating: 2.5/5

As the title suggests, ‘Switch { case n’:, the debut film by director Chethan Shetty, delves into the world of coding. It cleverly combines software coding concepts with cinematic storytelling, making it particularly appealing to those familiar with languages like C++ and Javascript. Interestingly, director Chethan, who himself is an IT professional, paints a vivid picture of the IT life, drawing from personal experiences and making the film relatable to non-techies as well.

The story revolves around Siddharth (played by Vijay Lalitha Surya), an ordinary IT professional with dreams of becoming a cricketer. Hailing from a middle-class family, Siddharth is an introverted young man with ambitions. As he enters his new IT company, complete with all the amenities one could imagine, Siddharth finds himself navigating the intricacies of office politics while striving for recognition. Chethan’s film also explores the challenges of probation, the dynamics of office life, and the complexities of on-site work, all while incorporating themes of friendship, power dynamics, and relationships.

Through Siddharth’s journey, we witness the constant struggle between his aspirations and the harsh realities of corporate life, exacerbated by the scheming of his coworkers and the allure of external opportunities. At the same time, we observe Siddharth’s romantic entanglements, particularly his affection for Navya (played by Shwetha Vijaykumar), whose intentions blur the lines between genuine affection and opportunistic exploitation.
