The Cursed- Movie Review

Friendly Review :  The Cursed

It’s absolutely stunning visually! The cinematography, the colors, the costumes, everything just transports you to a whole different world. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen either! And those shocking images? They definitely leave a lasting impression, especially if you’re into that kind of thing.

I also loved how the characters and the setting felt so authentic to the Victorian era. It’s not your typical historical horror film. The attention to detail in capturing the period’s sensibilities and class obsession is spot on. It adds so much depth and realism to the story. And I totally get what you mean about taking liberties with history. If it’s done right, like in “The Cursed,” it can be awesome.

Now, let’s talk scares! While it may not be the scariest movie out there, it’s definitely unique and inventive. The way it tackles the werewolf myth, rooted in trauma, injustice, and oppression, is fascinating. Plus, the clever Biblical connections add an extra layer of intrigue. Props to Ellis for his creativity!

I’m glad you mentioned the performances too. The cast really shines in this movie. They completely transformed into late 19th century Britons, and it’s easy to forget where you’ve seen them before. Boyd Holbrook, Kelly Reilly, and Allistaire Petrie deliver fantastic performances that add so much depth to the film.

Now, onto the not-so-great part. I have to agree with you about the editing. The cuts do feel a bit relentless at times, and it can be a bit jarring. It’s a shame when that takes away from an otherwise great movie.

All in all, “The Cursed” is definitely worth a watch for its stunning visuals, authentic period setting, unique take on the werewolf myth, and fantastic performances. Just be prepared for some fast-paced editing. So, have you seen any other horror movies lately that you’d recommend? I’m always up for a good scare! 🎥👻
